UKIYO-E WOODBLOCK ART
MESSENGER BAG

“The Mystery Of The Cat” (五拾三次之内猫の怪) by Utagawa Yoshifuji, 1847.
From the Travelling the 53 Stations series.

This image is made in the yose-e technique (“assembled picture”), with a huge monster cat created using nine assorted cats.
The mouth is made of the cat collar and the collar bells make up the huge spooky eyes.
This is a depiction of the Monster Cat of Okazaki, that was haunting the temple near Okazaki along the Tokaido Road, waiting to attack young women who came to visit the temple – a yokai monster story made into a famous kabuki play.

A nicely detailed messenger bag, with zippered main compartment and a zippered mesh pocket under the flap
Reporter/shoulder/crossbody bag, that would easily fit a tablet or books & study notes or few every day’s essentials!
Would easily fit a standard size laptop (15-16″ screen size, 13″ x 8″ dimensions) – please note that it is not padded for protection and not waterproof, but it will definitely fit it 🙂

Front cover is printed by the process of dye-sublimation, the most environmentally friendly, sustainable process possible in garment printing and production.
